Why the U.S. May Support the Yen

According to reports, the U.S. Treasury has informed several major banks that it may intervene in the foreign exchange market to support the Japanese yen. Such a move is highly unusual and suggests that developments in the currency markets are becoming an increasing concern for policymakers.

To me, this isn’t just about the Japanese yen. Actions like these often signal that imbalances in the global financial system are growing and that authorities are trying to prevent bigger problems from emerging.

That’s why I don’t focus only on the prices of gold and silver. I pay even closer attention to what is happening behind the scenes, because those developments often reveal far more about the future direction of the global economy than price charts alone.
