A Temporary Loss Is Not a Real Defeat

After a sharp decline in gold or silver prices, many people say: “I would have been better off if I had never invested.”

But there is another side to the story. Most people never invest at all. They keep waiting for the “perfect time,” and in many cases, that moment never comes.

If the long-term reasons for your investment haven’t changed, then the current decline is simply a normal market correction. Temporary losses are a natural part of every bull market.

Those who never invest may avoid short-term declines, but they also miss out on future gains while inflation gradually erodes the purchasing power of their savings.

The most important question isn’t “How much am I down today?” It’s “Have the long-term fundamentals changed?” If the answer is no, then today’s correction is simply another step on the journey every successful long-term investor has experienced.
